Smart City
Smart opportunities
Facing drastic social and environmental changes such as rapid urbanisation, climate revolution, ageing population and economic shifts, Hong Kong is determined to transform into a smart city with the help of some smart technologies.
To accelerate the transformation process, the HKSAR Government launched the Smart City Blueprint 2.0 (Blueprint 2.0) in December 2020 and the “iAM Smart” initiative - a one-stop personalized digital service platform - to facilitate efficient use of technology to improve and benefit people’s livelihood. I&T specialists and smart product manufacturers and suppliers around the world are exposed to the enormous business opportunities unveiled in Hong Kong.
Six smarts
The Blueprint 2.0 has set out more than 130 initiatives under six smart areas: Smart Mobility, Smart Living, Smart Environment, Smart People, Smart Government and Smart Economy. These areas present huge demands and business opportunities for software and hardware innovations, in the domains of electric vehicles and autonomous vehicles (EV/AV), robotics, Internet of Things (IoT), genomics, telehealth, green tech, waste management, smart sensors and smart energy, etc.
